The Senior Accountant is expected to have an in-dept knowledge and understanding of company policies and practices along with accounting principles to assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. This position is an integral part of the Finance Team and interacts with the accounting staff and management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reconcile and file all sales taxes using Avalara
• Ensure compliance and analysis of all local, state and federal tax returns
• Prepare and file all Annual Reports
• Prepare documentation for External Auditors
• Back up Assistant Controller (as needed) on monthly sales commission statements
• Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance including fixed assets and accumulated depreciation
• Provide insight on process improvement to gain efficiency and accuracy where applicable

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and have excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including GAAP, and knowledge of sales tax filings. You should also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data and have strong communication, written and verbal, to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field required; or minimum three years accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be detail-oriented and proficient with Excel Spreadsheets and Word documents. Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, including Dynamics Great Plains and Avalara a plus.

Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions, correspondence, and operating procedures. Be able to write routine reports, correspondence and ability to effectively present information and speak to customers or employees of organization. Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills required.

Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
