JP Morgan Chase Recruits NAVCO Team for its Championship Growth

In response to the unique challenges, NAVCO built a custom 5-member Team NAVCO specifically for Chase.

The Challenge:

In 2008 Chase managed assets exceeding $2 trillion, had more than 200,000 employees, and was poised to add 3,000 new banking sites through consolidation. A leading global financial services firm, Chase recognized the acquisition presented excellent business potential, but logistical challenges as well as possible increased expenses also loomed ahead.

At the time, Chase was partnered with multiple vendors to handle its integrated security system requirements and was looking at significant costs from hiring more human resources to manage them all. Chase needed a single, convenient and consistent source for their video security system requirements, and they needed it now.

The Solution:

Fortunately Chase didn’t have to search too far for the perfect solution. NAVCO had been working with them as one of their security system vendors for over 20 years. Impressed with NAVCO’s track record of delivering superior service, Chase turned to them to step up to the challenge and become a primary security vendor.

In response to the unique challenges, NAVCO built a custom 5-member “dream” team specifically for Chase. The team includes a project manager, account managers, and security specialists to handle the all-encompassing maintenance contract and the 5-year equipment replacement program. Team members are also experts in compliance issues and privacy laws inherent in the banking industry.

The Results:

As a new single source, NAVCO provides consistency and uniform standards for Chase’s security systems across multiple sites, including the newly added locations. And NAVCO's team smoothed the transition for branch and security employees. Additionally, Chase realized significant savings by eliminating the need to hire additional employees to manage multiple vendors. NAVCO proactive approach ensured each site’s security system was up and running on schedule and to Chase’s high standards.

Today, Chase operates a staggering 5,574 branch locations and 16,100 ATMs nationwide. NAVCO’s “dream” team provides unrivaled service for 49 corporate locations and 8,300 branch and ATM locations across the country. Looking ahead with NAVCO as their security partner, this year approximately 1,650 Chase branches are slated to receive new state-of-the-art equipment as part of the 5-year equipment replacement program.

600 Re-Engineered DVRs Keep Pet Specialty Retailer From Going to the Dogs

NAVCO and their team of problem solvers determined the DVRs could be salvaged and, in a creative move, re-engineered over 100 of them...

The Challenge:

In late 2012, a leading pet specialty retailer with 1,250 stores nationwide was stuck in a bind. Rather than being able to focus solely on providing the best pet specialty products and services, the client was facing a unique security challenge after they found themselves with 600 DVRs from a now defunct company with no way to service them. The retailer was looking at a large potential loss and a major capital replacement expense.

The Solution:

When the retailer contacted NAVCO, their team of integration engineers quickly stepped in and evaluated the client’s existing systems and DVRs. NAVCO and their team of problem solvers determined the DVRs could be salvaged and, in a creative move, re-engineered over 100 of them in 2013 while warehousing the rest to roll out as needed. By refurbishing the DVRs, NAVCO has saved the client over $100,000 so far.

The Results:

NAVCO’s innovative approach saved the pet specialty retailer a large capital expense and kept the budget from going to the dogs. And impressed with NAVCO’s engineering expertise and service capabilities, it’s no wonder the client recently selected NAVCO as the primary equipment and service partner for over 200 locations nationwide. Now NAVCO provides service for all of the client’s existing CCTV equipment including the refurbished DVRs. NAVCO estimates an ongoing saving of approximately 5% directly impacting the client’s bottom line.

Highlights

  • A leading pet specialty retailer was looking at a large capital loss due to owning 600 DVRs from a now-defunct company with no way to service them.
  • NAVCO evaluated the DVRs, determined they could be salvaged, and began refurbishing them, saving the client over $100,000 to date.
  • In response, the client engaged NAVCO as the primary equipment and service partner for over 200 locations nationwide.

Rolex Relies on NAVCO to Reduce Theft

Since Rolex was founded in 1905, they have been delivering the highest quality products, distinguishing themselves as the largest luxury watch brand. When internal theft issues got out of hand in1998, naturally Rolex wanted a security system integration partner recognized for their high standards. The company selected NAVCO.

NAVCO listened to Rolex’s concerns, then crafted and installed premise alarm monitoring software that enabled remote programming and monitoring over their company network. Rolex was so satisfied with the solution that they had NAVCO implement it in all five of their corporate buildings in the United States.

Fifteen years later, Rolex still relies on NAVCO to deliver excellent service and advice. In the Beverly Hills location in 2013, when arming and disarming the alarm system became an issue, NAVCO quickly responded by installing alarm panel administrative software, allowing remote arming and disarming of the system as well as increasing system uptime overall. Rolex was so pleased with this solution that they requested NAVCO to install the same administrative software at their Dallas and Lititz locations.

John Ryan, Vice President of Security, recently said, “We appreciate NAVCO quickly and professionally responding to our needs.” NAVCO looks forward to continuing to help Rolex keep their people and products secure.

NAVCO began working with Gold's Gym in April of 2012 by providing quick solution to the gym’s security needs — one that fit the company’s small security budget. Through NAVCO’s high-quality service and education on new technologies, Gold's Gym realized the company needed a more sophisticated video platform capable of capturing higher-quality images while also sending alerts in the event of DVR communication loss. With NAVCO’s help, Gold’s Gym has now moved from an all-analog environment with local recorder to a hybrid deployment utilizing analog and multi-stream IP cameras to provide 360- and 180-degree views with high-quality enterprise recorders.

Gold's Gym now plans to expand its footprint with the addition of 8-10 gyms per year. The company will turn to NAVCO as their partner in upgrading the security systems for their locations across the country.

Market Chain Declares NAVCO TOPS In Security

Of the 5 vendors vying for the contract, TOPS selected NAVCO as the only security system expert...

The Challenge:

Since opening its first family-owned store in the 1920s, TOPS Friendly Markets has grown to become one of the nation's leading grocery retailers. As part of its expansion, in 2007 the TOPS franchise was purchased by Morgan Stanley Private Equity, which allowed the company to continue operating as an independent, locally owned organization — true to its roots.

Following the purchase, TOPS Markets had a key decision to make: with the expiration of its current video surveillance system provider contract, whom would the company select to take the organization into the forefront of security technology?

The Solution:

Starting in June 2009, TOPS Market’s leadership and NAVCO began collaborating to identify the video security requirements for a new maintenance contract. After completing a thorough assessment, TOPS understood it would require a contract that covered a full range of needs. Of the 5 vendors vying for the contract, TOPS selected NAVCO as the only security system expert capable of meeting the company's complete video surveillance requirements across 135 stores.

The Results:

Now the sole provider of video surveillance for TOPS Markets, NAVCO is in the process of implementing an efficient and cost-effective solution to meet the client's immediate needs, while preparing them for future requirements. TOPS Markets anticipates saving significant time and money by simplifying, unifying and modernizing the technology they use. And they look to NAVCO for the support and services to keep their investment operating at peak performance.

Highlights

  • TOPS Markets initially partnered with NAVCO in 2009 to identify requirements for the company's new video surveillance maintenance contract.
  • NAVCO won the contract, beating out 5 vendors to become TOPS's sole provider of video surveillance.
  • NAVCO is currently implementing cost-effective and efficient systems for 135 TOPS stores.

NAVCO began talking to Safeway’s Phoenix Division early in 2013 about their security goals and needs — including a full IP conversion. Impressed with NAVCO’s transparency, technical expertise, and national presence, Safeway selected NAVCO. And in 2013, NAVCO assisted Safeway in converting two stores to IP cameras, as well as managing a 100-store pharmacy roll out in the company’s Phoenix Division.

On the heels of this successful conversion and rollout, Safeway’s Phoenix Division has chosen NAVCO to be the primary partner to convert and service all 115 stores to IP. NAVCO is currently in talks with Safeway Northern California Division, Northwest Division, and the Texas Division to provide service to these regions as well.

Fairway Markets Meets Aggressive Timeline on New Stores

New York-based Fairway Market is one of the nation’s highest grossing food retailers by square foot. When Jim Walters, newly hired Director of Security first approached NAVCO in 2008, he was tasked with expanding his team and getting up-to-date on security technology. To keep up with Fairway’s aggressive plans to add three new stores a year outside the New York market, Jim realized Fairway needed a security systems partner that could grow with the company — not just the one-man shop they were currently using.

After a thorough needs assessment, NAVCO helped design a security solution that would ultimately exceed Jim’s goals for Fairways’ stores. Awarded a three-year contract, NAVCO developed a complete turnkey security solution utilizing a mix of analog and IP megapixel cameras tied to a March Networks NVR. Intercoms, alarm and access control completed the integration. NAVCO additionally provided project management for all design, cabling, installation and extended service agreements.

Fairway’s security team has seen a wide range of benefits from the NAVCO solution. Aside from addressing the typical shoplifting challenges any retailer faces, the CCTV system has proven itself useful in reducing slip and fall liability claims, vendor shortages, employee theft, and safety non-compliance.

With new supermarkets going up in less than three months, Fairway needed a vendor who could provide excellent communication, coordination and timely completion of deadlines. NAVCO delivered on all fronts, with a strong project management and team approach that kept the project on schedule and within budget. This “can do” attitude keeps Fairway coming back to NAVCO every time.

HEB Trusts NAVCO to Handle its Complex Security System Requirements

HEB Grocery Stores began in 1905 in Kerrville, TX. Today HEB is one of the largest privately held companies in the country, employing 11,800 people in their 340 plus locations, with $20 Billion in annual sales.

NAVCO began talking to HEB early in 2013 about how to supplement the chain’s security vendor mix. HEB was drawn to NAVCO’s professionalism as well as national presence. HEB knew it needed a security systems vendor that could handle the stores’ significant demands at multiple locations. NAVCO proved to be that vendor.

HEB partnered with NAVCO in new store construction, store remodels, and retail support centers. For these projects, NAVCO was tasked with providing a solution that would work with HEB’s proprietary VMS software. For all-new construction and remodels, HEB deploys a full IP system consisting of over 100 Axis cameras that range from 1MP all the way up to 5MP.

With extensive expertise in IP surveillance systems, NAVCO was able to satisfy the complex requirements of HEB’s security system projects as well as help HEB’s loss prevention team save money and improve efficiencies with additional recommended products. HEB will now be looking to NAVCO as an integrator with the knowledge and extended service capabilities to handle its needs.

BevMo! Transitions to Better Camera Technology with NAVCO

BevMo! is a privately held corporation based in Concord, California, selling mainly alcoholic beverages. The company was founded in January 1994 and by 2013 had 148 stores operating in Arizona and California.

NAVCO began talking with BevMo! in 2011 about migration to IP cameras. NAVCO learned than the company had a specific need for a special doorjamb camera. Taking this requirement into consideration, NAVCO developed a migration strategy that included the purchase of more advanced IP cameras. NAVCO also mapped out a transition from BevMo!’s wire backbone to CAT 5 that allowed for a seamless migration to new IP cameras once the company’s existing Analog cameras failed. NAVCO also developed a special mounting box with the help of technology partner Axis, which worked with their new covert camera to capture the exact picture that BevMo! wanted.

Prêt A Manger Find Scalable Solution from NAVCO

Prêt A Manger USA is a quick-serve sandwich shop specializing in natural, tasty food made fresh daily. As the company continued to expand its footprint across the country, it was looking for an enterprise CCTV solution that would replace existing stand-alone CCTV systems in all of its shops.

The current system required hiring third-party vendors to pull video, resulting in significant cost. The company was looking to limit time of video pull, get all stores onto one platform and networked together, as well as finding a self-managing solution that didn’t require monthly service charges.

Pret A Manger began working NAVCO in 2011, after looking at several of NAVCO’s competitors — all of them pushed service instead of the right solution. NAVCO differentiated itself from the competitors by listening to company’s needs, and offering a product geared towards a smaller-sized company that would scale as its locations grew. NAVCO was able to recommend a product that fit within Pret’s strict budgetary constraints while meeting the company’s complete needs.

NAVCO began by installing a DVR and cameras at one of Pret’s New York City shops. Based on the success of the initial implementation, Pret awarded NAVCO several other projects. Today, all 48 Pret stores have switched to NAVCO.

The ONE Group Gets the Solution and Support They Needed

The ONE Group is a high-end hospitality group that develops, manages and operates several upscale restaurants. As they began to expand, management was looking to transition to a standardized NVR platform. The company turned to Open Eye, who recommended NAVCO as a trusted national security integrator that could design, install and service a CCTV solution that would meet the company’s needs.

NAVCO helped develop an overall camera design for one of the company’s premier steakhouses, STK in NYC. The solution, comprised of 25 IP megapixel cameras, delivered the excellent picture quality the restaurant required. The cameras were also tied to the Open Eye NVR, covering a mix of employee and customer views. The NVR platform additionally provided the future ability to have a POS transaction interface for the cash registers at the bar — another requirement of the project.

NAVCO was able to offer expert advice and had the knowledge and experience in IP camera technology to provide a 100% turnkey solution. NAVCO provides the ONE Group with ongoing service — something the company had failed to receive from their previous vendors. After the most recent CCTV installation at the Bagatelle Restaurant, management commented on how clean the installation was and how well the cameras were angled. As The One Group continues to expand into other major cities across the United States, NAVCO looks forward to being a part of their overall security solution.

Large Oil Retailer Reduces Costs Through Remote Security System Access

NAVCO ultimately deployed a long-term solution to update existing video systems across the customer’s U.S.-based network...

The Challenge:

NAVCO was contacted by one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies that offers marketing support to approximately 22,000 branded service stations, owns and operates 450 convenience and fuel stores in California, Oregon, Washington and Florida, and has over 5,000 franchised stores nationwide.

The oil retailer’s in-store security systems were not measuring up to the company’s need for reliability, ease-of-use, remote access to video footage, and employee safety and efficiency. The company looked to NAVCO for a better solution.

The Solution:

Starting in 2006, NAVCO conducted quarterly meetings with the retailer’s senior management to evaluate the client’s system design and performance needs, as well as the technologies best suited to address them. NAVCO ultimately deployed a long-term solution to update existing video systems across the customer’s U.S.-based network while enhancing remote visibility of all stores’ activity.

Collaboratively, NAVCO and the customer selected March Network’s Digital Recording System as a bridge to High Definition cameras that provide a long-term solution. Simultaneously, NAVCO recommended an easy-to-use software platform that synchronized POS data to video clips, allowing management to see and confirm every transaction in every store via their network.

To ensure a successful transition to the upgraded solution and minimize disruption to operations, NAVCO dedicated a customer service team to quickly respond to and resolve issues with older equipment that had not yet been upgraded.

The Results:

The large oil retailer now has a video security system that provides remote access as well as management to each store, while allowing robust POS searches and exceptions. Preparing for the future, NAVCO put in place a platform that allows the client to easily add and integrate IP cameras to each site — paving the way for an all-IP solution across the customer’s network.

The new systems are expected to reduce unanswered inventory shrink by over 1% of gross sales at problem stores. The ability to remotely manage the system should also cut travel costs in half.

Highlights

  • Since late 2009, NAVCO has rolled out over 90 units and provided service and installation to all 450 sites.
  • NAVCO-recommended and installed solutions include NVR (Network Video Recorder) with POS Interface, Remote User Management, and new IP camera technology.
  • The oil retailer recently selected NAVCO to be its sole provider for video, service and system installation for all company-operated sites.
  • The retailer also chose NAVCO over multiple existing and other vendors because of our forward-thinking vision and customer-focused solution.

CEFCO Partners with NAVCO for Expansion Strategy

Launched in 1979 in Temple, TX, CEFCO currently operates 256 convenient stores and hopes to grow by 20 new stores a year with their Truck Stop stores serving as a flagship. Looking ahead, CEFCO is entrusting all new construction projects to NAVCO as part of their aggressive growth plan. CEFCO has also relied on NAVCO to provide education in IP technology to maintain the camera coverage necessary for their Loss Prevention Team, and is exploring how CEFCO might reduce their costs by adopting newer technologies. NAVCO is poised to provide service in the near future for all 256 CEFCO locations.
